Acupuncture & Classical Chinese Medicine Treatments
Acupuncture & Classical Chinese Medicine Treatments with Melanie include Acupuncture and Chinese Herbalism. Visits may also include CranioSacral Therapy and/or additional Chinese medicine modalities, such as Oriental bodywork techniques, heat therapies, or cupping (treatments vary depending on what is needed for your unique health presentation). Melanie designs her treatments to heal the underlying cause of health concerns while providing symptom relief. All treatments are individualized and catered to the needs of each patient.
Why Acupuncture?
Acupuncture can effectively treat a variety of health concerns by shifting patterns of dis-ease and stagnation into patterns of healing and wholeness. It works by promoting the healthy circulation of qi, blood, and lymphatic fluids throughout the body. In doing so, Acupuncture works to restore damaged tissue, regulate the body's biochemical substances (such as hormones, neurotransmitters, cholesterol, enzymes, etc.), and return the body to healthy physiological functioning.

How does Acupuncture help in the treatment of mental/emotional health concerns?
Acupuncture can help to support emotional well being and/or compliment the treatment of mental/emotional health concerns being treated by Counselors, Psychiatrists, and other mental health support services. Mental/emotional symptoms are part of a pattern within your overall being, which is affecting your mind, body, and spirit. These patterns have an underlying energetic, or "Qi," component to them. Typically, there are also physical symptoms being caused by the pattern. Acupuncture and Chinese medical modalities offer a unique opportunity to shift mental/emotional symptoms by treating their energetic ("Qi") pattern and the corresponding physical symptoms within your body. Patients typically report a sense of peace and contentment after acupuncture treatments.
New Patient Information:
New patients will experience a thorough discussion of your health concerns and relevant medical history plus a Classical Chinese Medicine evaluation (including intricate pulse and/or abdomen diagnostic methods) and treatment. The first treatment is typically Acupuncture only due to time constraints. If you have any hesitation about receiving Acupuncture, other modalities can be utilized, including Acupressure or other alternative ways of stimulating the Acupuncture points and meridians. We will also discuss your treatment goals and develop a treatment plan that meets your individual needs. An herbal prescription is typically incorporated into treatment after the second or third visit (when indicated).
